We've got multiple graduation parties on the calendar this summer. Finding a meaningful gift to give a high school student heading to college can be tough. While money of any amount is always welcome, here are a few other ideas to consider:
- Books- My two favorites this year are Harlan Cohen's "The Naked Roommate" (just revised this spring) and Paula Franzese's "A Short Happy Guide to Being a College Student".
- Games- Board games like Loaded Questions, Scattergories, Pictionary and Catch Phrase are great ice-breakers for meeting new people.
- Gift Cards- A few gift cards from restaurants near their college helps a student get comfortable in their new neighborhood. Also consider attraction tickets for nearby venues such as theaters, mini-golf or bowling.
- College Spiritwear- A t-shirt, sweatshirt, sweat pants, shorts, pajamas or other college apparel will be worn regularly.
- Art for dorm walls- This Signable Wall Canvas is a great memento from home, or try some "peel and stick" art or wallpaper to personalize and beautify those cinder block walls.
